Two separate men were sent to the ACI after being arrested as repeat offenders who were on parole for previous domestic offenses.  Following is a log of Bristol Police incidents from Feb. 17 to 23.

Monday, Feb. 17

An officer dispersed someone from the corner of Metacom and Griswold avenues at 4:45 p.m.

An officer warned a motorist stopped for speeding on Metacom Avenue near Sherman Avenue at 9:23 p.m.

Tuesday, Feb. 18

David S. Accardi, 27, of 217 State St., Apt. 3, Bristol, turned himself in at police headquarters at 7:08 a.m. He was charged on a warrant for domestic disorderly conduct and vandalism and later taken to District Court.

At 1:29 p.m., Bristol officers arrested Robin Perkins, 33, of Newport. He was taken into custody at Roger Williams University, brought to the station and charged with disorderly conduct-indecent exposure (see separate story).

A caller alerted police that there was a strong odor of diesel fuel in the area of the State Street dock. The harbormaster and Coast Guard both responded to the scene, and the owner of a boat was notified as well.

A River Street resident called police at 7:25 p.m. to report a past assault by brothers. Rescue was called to the scene.

Wednesday, Feb. 19

An officer questioned a man found sleeping in his vehicle on Wood Street at 9:27 a.m. The man told the officer he had just gotten home from work and fell asleep while smoking.

Officers were called to Gooding Avenue at 11:09 a.m. for a reportedly disorderly parent. There were no arrests.

A caller told police that a suspicious man dressed in black had just entered the CVS store on Metacom Avenue at 11:58 a.m. An officer responded and found no problem; the man was walking to work.

Thursday, Feb. 20

A Holly Lane resident reported a past larceny at 3:05 p.m.

At 5:39 p.m., Delio R. Costa, 37, of 49 Mt. Hope Ave., Bristol, was arrested on a warrant for vandalism. He was arraigned at the station and released.

A juvenile was dispersed from the area of Perry and Manchester streets at 8:24 p.m.

Officers responded to King Philip Avenue at 8:27 p.m. for an alleged domestic disturbance. They then searched the immediate area for a man in a silver Acura who had left the scene.

Friday, Feb. 21

An officer dispersed two men from State Street at 12:20 a.m.

At 7:12 a.m., a woman called from Union Street to report that a man in his forties with a Massachusetts plate had been following her.

At 1:15 p.m., a woman from Melrose Drive called to file a complaint about an incident.

A Roma Street resident reported bank fraud at 2:35 p.m.

A caller reported there was a man digging a hole in the woods along Annawamscutt Drive at 2:44 p.m. A second caller reported the same thing at 3:43 p.m. Officers found nothing suspicious.

An officer was called to Franklin Street at 6:39 p.m. for a verbal argument between two women.

Police responded to Melrose Drive to keep the peace with an ex-girlfriend while a man removed his belongings from a residence at 8:13 p.m.

An officer dispersed someone in a car from a parking lot on Leila Jean Drive at 10:47 p.m.

A woman reported her purse stolen from Judge Roy Bean’s at 11:25 p.m.

Saturday, Feb. 22

After a caller from Melrose Drive reported that her ex-boyfriend had assaulted her and left in a silver Mercedes at 7:55 a.m., Bristol Police responded to the scene and sent out an alert for neighboring departments to be on the lookout. Later that morning, Rhode Island State Police stopped the vehicle and took Brian Silva, 30, of 2 Melrose Drive, Bristol, into custody. He was transferred to Bristol Police, who charged him with domestic assault by strangulation, domestic simple assault and domestic disorderly conduct. He was arraigned on Monday, Feb. 24, in District Court and entered no plea. The court imposed a no-contact order with the victim and held him without bail because the arrest violated his probation from a previous arrest last June, when Warren Police charged him with simple assault, resisting arrest and domestic disorderly conduct. He was given a six-month suspended jail sentence from that 2019 case.

A caller from Malden Street reported a coyote in their yard at 9:25 a.m. An officer responded and said the animal was in good health and there were no problems.

A caller from Woodlawn Avenue reported a coyote trapped in her garage at 4:11 p.m. DEM was called to the scene.

A resident on Murphy Avenue called to report a house party in progress at 9:11 p.m. Officers responded and advised the residents.

Officers responded to Viking Drive at 10:17 p.m. for a house party with loud music and vehicles parked up and down the street. A patrolman called the Roger Williams University shuttle bus to the scene.

A Fox Hill Avenue resident called police at 11:48 p.m. to a report that a man was urinating in her yard. He was gone when officers arrived.

Sunday, Feb. 23

A Fox Hill Avenue resident asked police to check the area at 1:12 a.m. She said she had been woken up by a group of men talking loudly as they walked down the street.

Officers advised residents to extinguish a small cooking fire on State Street at 1:20 a.m.

A woman called that station at 2:43 a.m. to request help. She said two men were out in the neighborhood and she felt uncomfortable getting out of her car.

An officer warned a dog owner about letting dogs run loose at the town beach at 9:41 a.m.

After a Hope Street resident reported two people on their porch who did not belong there at 9:58 a.m., officers responded and took one of the people into custody. John E. Abercrombie, 51, of Providence, was charged with domestic violence-criminal violation of a no-contact order (3rd-plus offense). He was arraigned at the station and taken to the ACI as a violator of a previous sentence. On Feb. 11, he pleaded no contest to domestic violence charges out of Middletown and was sentenced to a year in prison, with 10 days to serve and the rest suspended.

A caller complained about a man blowing debris into the roadway in the area of Metacom Avenue and Tupelo Street at 12:18 p.m.

A King Philip Avenue resident complained of loud music coming from a neighboring residence at 2:12 p.m.

A King Philip Avenue resident called at 4:28 p.m. to complain about a house party and noise. Officers responded and found a small gathering in the yard; they agreed to move things inside for the night.
