Bragging rights on the line in Barrington on Thanksgiving
Eagles host Huskies in rivalry game
Two familiar foes will square off on Thanksgiving Day in Barrington.
The Barrington High School football team, just days off its Division II State Championship victory, will host Mt. Hope in the annual rivalry game.
Kick off is set for 10 a.m. at Barrington’s Victory Field.
The Eagles finished the regular season 6-0 in Division II-B and 7-1 overall, and then went on an impressive run in the postseason. Barrington steamrolled Mt. Pleasant in the quarterfinals, 43-8, and then blasted St. Raphael’s Academy 29-8 in the semifinals.
Barrington met previously undefeated Cumberland in the state championship game and knocked off the Clippers 28-21 in a thriller.
Mt. Hope, competing in Division III, struggled early in the season, losing its first seven games but has tasted some success more recently. The Huskies enter the Thanksgiving Day game winners of three straight games.
On Nov. 2, Mt. Hope defeated Toll Gate 7-0, and a week later, the Huskies defeated Chariho 27-6. On Nov. 17, Mt. Hope knocked off North Smithfield 24-7.
