Blithewold offering chances to warm up by the fire

Posted

Blithewold is once again offering “Cozy Autumn Fires and Tasty Treats” on Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 24.  They provide everything you need to enjoy an autumn afternoon by the fire: chairs, s’mores kits with sticks, hot cocoa and cider, a state-of-the-art low-smoke fire pit, and a spectacular view of the Giant Sequoia in the sheltered Enclosed Garden. Their fire master will even keep the flames burning.

While there, guests are welcome to do a fun activity or craft, stroll around the grounds, or visit the Big Beautiful Bamboo Bird sculptures. There is a maximum of six people per one-hour fire pit reservation. Children 2 and under can sit on laps and don’t add to the maximum number in your group. This is a “take out what you take in” activity.

Spots are limited and by pre-paid reservation only. To learn more and book a reservation, click here.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
