This year, a school-record 10 members of the Barrington High School girls indoor track team qualified to compete in the New Balance Nationals Indoor in New York City. But the meet, which was scheduled to take place this weekend, was canceled due to COVID-19.

However, there were two highlights from the Rhode Island Girls Indoor Track banquet, which was held at the Crowne Plaza on Wednesday night, March 11.

The Barrington High School girls team won the sportsmanship award, an honor which is given to the team that consistently shows the highest level of sportsmanship throughout the indoor season. 

"Coaches from all of the girl’s indoor track teams vote based on their observations and the interactions their athletes experienced with others. The BHS coaching staff couldn’t be more proud of the athletes for winning this award," said one the Eagles' coaches.

Also, Barrington High School senior Caroline Livingston, a team captain and All State distance runner, received a Bobby Doyle Foundation scholarship. Each year, the Bobby Doyle Foundation awards two scholarships to female track athletes in Rhode Island. Caroline will attend Dartmouth in the fall, where she plans on competing in cross country and track.

In total, 15 Barrington High School student-athletes received awards for strong performances in the division, class and state meets.
