The Mounties opened a commanding 4-0 lead in the first period and were up 6-0 before Barrington's Matt Bates tallied the Eagles' first goal at the 14:23 mark of the second period. Brenen Gazeryan assisted on the goal.
Barrington High School's Jackson Gorman scored a power-play second goal at the start of the third period. Bates and Sam Faulkner assisted on Gorman's goal.
The Mounties added two power-play goals in the third period to make the final 8-2.
Stephen Amaral and Matthew Biagetti shared goal-tending duties for the Eagles — Amaral made 30 saves while Biagetti finished with 14.
The Barrington High School boys basketball team ran its league record to 3-0 after defeating Juanita Sanchez High School 78-70 on Monday night, Jan. 6.
Four Eagles finished in double-digits, as Connor Sullivan had 20, Will Rywolt had 18, Brendan Conaty added 15, and Ryan Bonneau scored 12. Barrington built a 10-point lead by halftime and held off Juanita Sanchez in the second half.
Barrington knocked off Narragansett High School 70-56 on Thursday, Jan. 2. Bonneau led the Eagles against the Mariners, finishing with a game-high 23 points, including 13-for-17 shooting from the free throw line. Rywolt knocked down four three-pointers and added 18 points and Ben Proulx and Ben Batting each scored nine in the victory.
Barrington led 36-20 at halftime.
Girls basketball
The Eagles celebrated their first win of the season with a 55-44 victory over Smithfield on Friday, Jan. 3. The win improved Barrington's league mark to 1-1.
Cary Heterick and Chloe Rouleau each scored 16 points to lead the Eagles in scoring, while Hailey Walter added 11 points and Nina Gibbons dropped in nine.
Barrington was scheduled to play against South Kingstown on Tuesday and will travel to Wheeler School for a game on Thursday, Jan. 9.
Girls hockey
The East Bay Co-op Girls Hockey team defeated the Mount St. Charles Co-op team 5-1 Friday night, Jan. 3, at Adelard Arena.
The Eagles scored two goals in the first period. Mallory Cox scored first, assisted by Samantha Yee and Kat Barker, while Yee netted the second goal. Barker also assisted on that goal.
East Bay scored three goals in the third period. Ella Hanley scored two times, with assists from Cox and Yee. Barker netted East Bay's final goal of the game — Cox and Hanley each had assists.
Boys swimming
The Eagles defeated LaSalle Academy 62-30 during a league meet on Friday, Jan. 3. Will McClelland, David McMillan, and Lucas Jauregui each won two events for the Eagles. McClelland captured the fastest time in the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly, while McMillan won the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle, and Jauregui won the 100 backstroke and 200 individual medley. Zach O'Connor won the 500 freestyle race and Barrington also won the 200 free relay event and 200 medley relay event.
Girls swimming
Barrington outscored LaSalle 49-43 in a meet on Jan. 3.
Sydni Diehl won a pair of events for the Eagles — the 100 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. Rachel Baker won the 50 freestyle, Amy Zhao won the 100 butterfly, and Zoe Webster won the 200 freestyle.
The Eagles won a pair of relay events — the 200 free relay and the 200 medley relay.
Boys indoor track
The Barrington High School boys indoor track team improved to 5-0 after defeating Mt. Pleasant 73-35, Hope 97-10, and Wheeler 103-5 in a meet on Thursday, Jan. 2.
Barrington's CJ Hilty won the 3,000-meter race. Walter Joachim-DelPoio won the 55-meter hurdles. Holden Vaughan enjoyed a strong meet, winning the 1,000-meter race and the 1,500-meter race. Jay Scheiffelin was tops in the 600, and Jackson Duffy won the long jump. Thomas McAdams won the high jump and Will Cauley won two events — the shot put and the weight throw. Barrington's 4x400-meter relay team won its event.
