The Barrington High School football team ran up against a tough Cranston East team on Friday night and suffered a 48-7 loss.
East opened an impressive 35-0 halftime lead against Barrington. The Eagles' lone score came when Dante Augustine broke off a 60-yard touchdown run in the second half. Chase White kicked the extra point for Barrington.
The Eagles (2-4 in the division) will try to break back into the win column when they travel to Cumberland (2-3 in the division) for a showdown on Friday night. The Clippers are coming off a 20-14 win over Central last weekend.
Field hockey
Barrington improved to 13-1-1 in Division I standings after defeating LaSalle Academy 5-1 on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
Barrington scored all its goals in the first half — Elizabeth Lewis and Madelyn Cox both scored twice while Lillyanne Dunphy added a single goal. Piper Broomhead finished the game with two assists, and Hayley Gasbarro, Cox and Claudia Kriz also notched assists. Caleigh Durkin made nine saves for the Eagles.
Barrington is scheduled to play its final regular season game on Thursday, Oct. 26 against Bay View. The game is at Barrington High School.
Girls volleyball
Barrington won a pair of matches last week — the Eagles defeated Classical 3-0 on Tuesday, Oct. 17, and Coventry 3-1 on Thursday, Oct. 19. The win over Coventry was key, as the Oakers currently stand in first place in Division I-Central with a 13-2 record; Barrington is in second place with a 12-3 record.
Barrington defeated Classical 25-9, 25-12, 25-17.
Girls soccer
The Barrington High School girls soccer team tallied two second-half goals and walked away with a 2-0 win over Prout School on Monday, Oct. 23. Elizabeth Enos and Olivia Middleton each scored unassisted goals for the Eagles, who improved to 4-9-2.
On Thursday, Oct. 19, Barrington lost to Smithfield, 3-0. Cary Heterick made seven saves in net for Barrington.
Barrington will host Pilgrim in the final game of the regular season on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m.
Boys soccer
The Eagles' record moved to 7-5-4 after winning two games last week and losing once.
On Thursday, Oct. 19, Barrington defeated Central 2-1. Harry Browne and Aiden Doyle each scored goals for Barrington while Eric Fitzgerald had an assist. Emmanuel Despines made eight saves in net.
On Saturday, Barrington traveled to Providence to play Moses Brown and lost 11-2. Nick Rockwell and Alex Soares each scored goals and Doyle had an assist. Moses Brown exploded for seven first half goals and four more scores in the second half.
The Eagles bounced back from the loss with a 2-1 win over Central Falls on Monday, Oct. 23. Andrew Marra and Alex Senich each scored for Barrington, while Deven Connors and Nicholas Perugini finished with assists. Despines made 10 saves for Barrington.
Barrington will host Chariho in the final regular season game on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m.
