Eagles open 2-0 lead, power to 3-1 victory

The Barrington High School girls soccer team scored two goals in the first half and one more in the second and rolled to a 3-1 victory over Portsmouth on Friday, Oct. 23.

Tess Gagliano, Ashley Edwards and Gianna Colonna each scored goals for the Eagles, while Edwards, Sophia Richardson and Frances Adams tallied assists.

Alaina Woods made 12 saves for the Eagles, who tallied 25 shots on net against the Patriots.

On Monday afternoon, Barrington came up just short against Pilgrim High School, losing 2-1. Edwards scored the goal off an assist from Gagliano.

Wood and Helena DeFanti shared goalkeeping duties for Barrington, combining to stop 12 Pilgrim shots.

The Eagles are scheduled to play at Bay View Academy on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 11 a.m.

Boys cross country

Barrington High School ran up against a tough LaSalle Academy team in a league meet on Saturday, losing to the Rams, 48-15.

LaSalle Academy runners captured the top five spots and eight out of the top 10. Holden Vaughan was Barrington's top finisher, crossing the line in sixth place overall, while Noah Buller was 10th. Freshman runner Brandon Piedade was 11th overall, Caleb Schultz was 13th, Finn Myatt was 14th and Jordan Freij was 16th. Other Barrington runners to crack the top 20 spots were Elliot Lefort in 18th and Andrew Rego in 20th.

Girls cross country

The Eagles defeated Lincoln School and Bay View Academy, but lost to LaSalle Academy in a multi-team meet on Saturday.

Barrington defeated Lincoln School 19-45 and Bay View 15-50, and lost to LaSalle 48-15.

LaSalle runners finished in the top five spots. Barrington's Meghan Zitzmann finished sixth overall and her teammate Lindsay Turgeon was 10th. Reilly Curran finished in 11th place, followed by Olivia Johnson in 12th place, Audrey Faulkner in 13th, Maria Gunness in 14th and Virginia Sanderson in 15th.

Boys soccer

The Barrington High School boys soccer team scored a first half goal and played Portsmouth to a 1-1 tie on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Nick Rockwell scored the Eagles' goal while Eli Muller tallied the assist. Sean Imbush made nine saves in net for Barrington. The Eagles were scheduled to play East Providence on Tuesday night, at Mt. Hope High School on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., and host Shea High School on Friday at 5.

Field hockey

Barrington's record fell to 2-4 after losing to Tiverton 1-0 on Wednesday, Oct. 21, and LaSalle Academy 1-0 on Saturday, Oct. 24. The Eagles are scheduled to host Lincoln School on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 10 a.m.
