Betsey Randall of Bristol died peacefully at her home on June 12, 2020, surrounded by her family. Betsey was born on April 26, 1936, to John and Marion Borden of Touisset, Mass. She grew upon the Cole’s River, sailing Herreshoff 12 1/2's and the infamous "S" boat Kelpie. Betsey was an amazing gardener. She was a member of the Bayberry Garden Club and volunteered at Linden Place for many years.
Betsey was a co-owner of Village Resale in Warren, R.I., with her dear friend and business partner, Smoogy Steiner. There, they had many laughs, good times and she always had a great eye for fashion. She had a great love for animals and will always be remembered for her kindness, compassion and generosity.
Betsey was survived by her husband, Robert Randall, and her previous husband, Emerson Colwell Sr. She had three children and three step-children, Nancy White Tache, Merrilyn White (Russo) Rinkel, Emerson Colwell Jr., Bruce Randall, Eric Randall and Kim Wilkinson. Betsey also had ten loving grandchildren and one great-grandson.
She is survived by her brother, John Borden, of Westport, Mass., and sister, Merry Cushing, of Amherst, Mass., and will be missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
There will be no services, however a celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Herreshoff Museum in her name and would be greatly appreciated.
