Barrington sweeps West Warwick on Senior Night

On Tuesday, May 14, the Barrington High School boys volleyball team celebrated Senior Night with a sweep of West Warwick, 3-0. The scores were 25-23, 25-18, 25-10.

Cam Kelley led the Eagles offense with 15 kills and contributed to the defense with four digs. James Ciummo built a wall at the net with three blocks on the night. Ciummo also found himself on the service line for the Eagles, tallying four points and an 87.5 percent serving average.

On Thursday, May 16, Barrington took the long ride to Westerly and defeated the Bulldogs, 3-1. The match was important for Barrington as it pushes to maintain the number two seed. The scores were 18-25, 25-13, 25-19, 25-15.

“The drive to Westerly is a long one and the Eagles never seem to be 100 percent focused in the first set,” BHS Coach Christian Lambert wrote in a message to the Barrington Times. “They righted the ship and took care of business in the next three sets.”

Ciummo and Kelley were again the big hitters on offense with 12 and 15 kills, respectively. Max Oberacker chipped in with seven kills and Sang Min Park had 42 assists. Defense was a big part of the win — Luke Van Ness led the way with 16 digs, while Sang Min Park had eight and Donovan Park had six.

Donovan Park was a force from the service line, going 24-for-24 with two aces and tallying 16 points for the Eagles.
