Barrington teams race to strong finishes at states

BHS boys finish third, girls are sixth

The Barrington High School boys and girls cross country teams finished in third and sixth place, respectively, at the state championship races on Saturday, Nov. 4. 

Brandon Piedade and Myles Napolitano highlighted a strong performance for the Barrington boys team. Piedade, a senior, finished second overall with a time of 15:47.14. Napolitano, a junior, finished in third place with a time of 15:49.89. 

BHS senior Elliot Lefort finished 30th overall. Lefort clocked a time of 16:58.23. Marius Bonard, a junior, was Barrington’s fourth team finisher and was 45th overall with a time of 17:30.33. Barrington freshman Colby Napolitano finished 51st overall and fifth for the Eagles. Colby clocked a time of 17:39.29. 

Juniors Daniel Chun and Connor Curran finished in 63rd and 73rd places, respectively. Chun clocked a time of 17:50.44 while Curran finished at 18:01.89.

Two freshmen paced the Barrington High School girls cross country team. Evelyn Lefort finished 25th overall and first for the Eagles. Lefort had a time of 20:10.85. Her classmate Maura Gravina finished second for the Eagles and 44th overall with a time of 20:55.93. 

Barrington had four runners finish between 47th place and 55th — Sara Chang was 47th with a time of 21:02.65; Maeve Kelly was 48th with a time of 21:03.03; Sophie Gardos was 52nd with a time of 21:08.43; and Mia He was 55th with a time of 21:10.55. Jane Bryant crossed the finish line in 78th place with a time of 22:09.23.
