The Barrington High School outdoor track teams competed at the state championship meet at Conley Stadium in Providence on Saturday. The BHS girls finished 12th overall, while the boys team finished 14th.
The 4x800-meter relay team of Olivia Johnson, Lindsay Turgeon, Kyle Keough and Meghan Zitzmann led the way for Barrington with a second place finish. Mackenzie Stephens placed fifth in the hammer throw, and Meghan Coyne was sixth in the hammer. Zitzmann rallied for a strong sixth-place finish in the 800-meter race.
Other Barrington athletes who performed well at states included Eva Garofano, Grace Saal, Rachel Baker and Sophia Ford.
A week earlier, Barrington finished tied for second at the JV State Championship meet.
Boys finish
Nico Arce ran to a second place finish in the 400-meter race, finishing with a personal best time of 50.81 seconds. The Eagles also scored key points in the hammer throw event, as Asher Robbins finished fourth and Liam Capozza was sixth.
