Locals lead Estonia to Baltic championship

Barrington's Adam Kelly and his sister Annika played key roles for Estonia in the Baltic team championship. Adam won the men's 7.26k hammer throw event, while Annika finished second in the women's 4k hammer throw event. Adam's top throw measured 69.18 meters (227 feet), while Annika's top throw was 55.57 meters (182 feet, 3 inches). The Estonian team surpassed the Lithuanian team by one point — Estonia scored 276 points, Lithuania was second with 275 and host Latvia was third with 247 points. The Estonians won eleven first places. Adam and Annika both hold dual citizenship with Estonia and the U.S.

Residents selected fencing All-Americans

Two Barrington residents were recently selected to the 2020 USA Fencing High School All-American Team. Anna Saal and Dahlia Pahlavi were both selected Second Team All-Americans. Anna competes with the epee, while Dahlia competes with the foil. Both athletes are students at Barrington High School, and compete with the RI Fencing Academy and Club. USA Fencing released the All-American listings recently.
