Former resident congratulates local All-Star team

Barrington native and current Pawtucket Red Sox pitcher Trevor Kelley had the chance to congratulate the Barrington U12 All-Star baseball team on Saturday night, Aug. 31.

Kelley, a right-handed pitcher who grew up on Ledge Road in Barrington, visited the team during the pre-game ceremony on Saturday night at McCoy Stadium.

The PawSox honored the Barrington team for its historic run through the All-Star season — Barrington won the District II, State and Regional championships before battling in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.

During an interview prior to the game, Kelley said he had been cheering for the Barrington team throughout the All-Star season.

"We were in Toledo (Ohio) and I knew that they had made it far," said Kelley, about the Barrington team. "We got to see the last out (on TV) in the locker room. It was just cool.

"It's just cool seeing something good come from Barrington," he said.

During Saturday's special event, Kelley visited the team at the center of the baseball diamond and posed for some photographs.
