Barrington resident helps team win national title

Hank Alessandro plays for 3D New England Red lacrosse team

Barrington’s Hank Alessandro and his club team 3D New England Red won the Boy’s Inside Lacrosse Elite Eight National Championship in Baltimore, Md.

The team is the number one ranked team in the nation by US Club Lacrosse and Inside Lacrosse with a record of 37-3.

Alessandro played 10 years of youth lacrosse with East Bay Bristol County Lacrosse Association which runs local teams for boys and girls in kindergarten through eighth grade.

He plays long stick midfield and close defense and was All-State the last 2 seasons.

Alessandro attends Moses Brown School where he will be captain of the team next spring.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
