The Town of Barrington encouraged residents to complete a survey about their experiences with, and opinions of, recreation facilities in town. In the final question, the survey asked: “What do you think about installing an artificial Turf Field, with Lights, in Barrington, either at a school or on Town property?”
Because the question did not have any “Yes” or “No” options and was simply an open-ended question, the final report had no quantifiable results for the 680 responses to this question. However, the Barrington Times went through all 680 responses and classified them as “Yes,” “No,” or “Not sure”; 5 responses were not counted because they expressed no discernible opinion.
Of the 675 clear responses, 499 (74%) said they are in favor of artificial turf in Barrington; 123 (18%) said they are not; and 53 (18%) said they are not sure or need more information.
