Latest larceny: Bike snatched from outside CVS

Posted

Another week, another stolen bicycle.

On Monday, Aug. 19, a Barrington man contacted police to report a stolen bicycle. The man said his 13-year-old son had left his mountain bike outside the CVS in the Barrington Shopping Center for about 15 minutes while he went inside the store.

When the boy exited the store, the bike was gone.

Police believe that the recent larceny may be connected with a string of other stolen bikes — the incidents have occurred in broad daylight and in heavily trafficked areas in town.

On Friday, Aug. 16, a bicycle was stolen from outside the Ace Center Hardware. That store is located just a short walk from the CVS in the shopping center.

And prior to that incident, a resident told police his bicycle was stolen from outside Barrington Public Library. The bike had been secured with a lock, but the resident said the lock was cut.

Police are asking people to keep an eye out for suspicious activity with bicycles; the police department's phone number is 437-3930.
