Police charged a 17-year-old Barrington boy with underage possession or consumption of alcohol on Wednesday, Nov. 25, after getting a call from the boy's mother.

Police received a call at about 10:15 p.m. from the teenager's mom, who said her son had just arrived home and was intoxicated. Police responded to the home and spoke to the woman, who said she could smell alcohol on her son's breath. The boy denied he had been drinking and went to his room to sleep.

Police then asked the boy if he would take a breathalyzer test to prove his innocence, but he allegedly refused twice. Officers then charged him with underage possession or consumption of alcohol.

On Saturday, Nov. 28, Barrington police charged Anteneh Kutenplon Rayess, 19, with underage possession or consumption or alcohol. An officer was on a routine patrol inside Haines Park at about 3 a.m. when he saw a car parked in one of the lots.

He approached the car and then noticed three male teenagers walking over to the car from some nearby bleachers. The officer could reportedly smell the odor of marijuana.

The teens said they were hanging out at the park and allegedly admitted to smoking pot, but said they had not been drinking. The officer then checked the bleachers and found a half-empty bottle of rum and two shot glasses.

Mr. Rayess said he had brought the rum home from college. All three teens took breathalyzer tests that showed no evidence of alcohol consumption, but police later charged Mr. Rayess for possession of the rum.
