Barrington Police Chief Dino DeCrescenzo is asking all residents to avoid coming to the police station unless it is an emergency.

The request was made as officials try to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

Barrington police are asking residents seeking police assistance to call the station first. The dispatcher will take the resident's information — name, phone number, reason for calling — and have an officer call them back.

The police department's phone number is 401-437-3930.
