The Barrington Middle School cross country teams are Eastern Division champs.

Both teams finished first during the Eastern Divisional Championship meet at Glen Park in Portsmouth on Wednesday, Oct. 11.

In fact, the Barrington Middle School teams swept all four races: Boys JV, Girls JV, Boys Varsity, and Girls Varsity.

In the Girls Varsity race, Gracie Gaines finished first for Barrington and third overall with a time of 12:45, while Carly Gill finished second for Barrington and fourth overall with a time of 13:07.4. Six of the top-10 finishers overall were from Barrington.

In the Boys Varsity race, Biko Alston-Hanna finished first for Barrington and fourth overall with a time of 12:09.5, and Evan Frechette finished second for Barrington and fifth overall with a time of 12:14. All seven Barrington runners finished in the top-12 overall for the varsity race.

“I'm really proud of these kids!” said BMS Coach Larson Gunness. “They have worked hard all season and have continued to have fun. Our wins this year were a complete team effort and everyone participated to push each other, challenge each other to become stronger. This is a great group of kids and it's been such a pleasure to coach them! Now we prepare to bring these strong teams to the State meet on Saturday, Oct. 21.”
