The Barrington Majors Division All-Star softball team struggled to score runs against a tough Tiverton team on Wednesday night, June 29, losing 10-0.

The loss dropped Barrington into an elimination bracket game against Newport tonight, June 30. The game will be played at Braga Park in Newport at 5:45 p.m.

Tonight’s game will mark the second time Barrington has traveled to Braga Park to play against Newport. In its District II tournament opener, Barrington defeated Newport 19-16. Barrington pitcher Audrey Paxton led the way — she pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts and had an inside-the-park home run, recording 7 RBIs in the game.

Offensively the team had some major standouts in Gianna Brucato, Grace Fontaine and Erin Moran. Ainsely Drury and Savannah Timmins also helped power a seven-run fourth inning.

Against Tiverton on June 29, Corrina Flores made several great plays in left field, including two key outs early in the game to keep Tiverton off the scoreboard. Paxton pitched and recorded several outs herself, while Brucato at shortstop and Emily Peluso at first base connected on multiple outs during the game.
