The Barrington Juniors Division All-Star baseball team outscored East Providence 14-4 and captured the District 2 championship late last week.
Barrington opened the District 2 tournament with a 5-4 loss to Pawtucket, but then the Pawtucket team dropped out of the tournament, so Barrington played against East Providence for the championship.
Jack Marley pitched 4 and 2/3 innings, allowing only two hits while striking out 7 to lead Barrington. Will Sturla went 3-for-4, while Henry Alfonso had two hits. Ryan Aldrich, Santino Giuffrida and Marley each scored three runs.
The state tournament will be played in Smithfield, and starts on Tuesday, July 19.
