The Barrington High School boys' hockey team marked its Senior Night with a 3-1 win over Portsmouth. The game was played on Friday night.
Sophomores Josh Roy, Luke Rudman and Jonny Fay each scored goals for the Eagles, while senior Colin Clegg made 28 saves in net.
A night later, Barrington lost 4-2 against Burrillville. Ian Coyne opened the scoring for Barrington with a goal in the first period. Rudman and Nick Bernardo each tallied assists on the goal.
Burrillville stormed back in the second period and scored twice, the first coming on a power-play. But Barrington evened the score in the same period when Fay netted a power-play goal off an assist from TJ Hall.
In the third period, Burrillville scored on a power-play goal to take a 3-2 lead and then iced the game with an empty-netter later in the period.
Barrington finished the game with 18 shots on net while Burrillville tallied 39 shots.
According to the Rhode Island Interscholastic League website, Barrington finished the regular season with a 6-8-1 record, good enough for third place in Division I-Eccleston.
The Division I playoff quarterfinals are scheduled to begin with a best-of-three series starting on Friday, March 11.
Girls' hockey
The Barrington-Mt. Hope-Portsmouth co-op team earned the first seed in the girls' hockey playoffs and will play in a best-of-three series against the Warwick co-op team this weekend. Warwick defeated the Mt. St. Charles-Lincoln-Cumberland co-op team 4-0 and 4-3 to capture the first round win.
The South County co-op team will play against LaSalle in the other semifinal series.
Barrington finished the regular season in first place with a 14-2-2 record in Division I.
