More than a dozen Barrington High School students recently received Rhode Island Art Anchor Awards.

The local students’ artwork, along with pieces from other students across the state, was featured in a special show at Rhode Island College for most of March.

Two of the BHS creations — a mixed media illustration titled “Acceptance” by sophomore Ajax Holmer and a painting “Why?” by junior Eden White — earned “Best in Category Awards.”

BHS Junior Hunter Hughes received an Anchor Award for his soapstone sculpture “Resting Giraffe.” And senior Laurie Garcia earned an Anchor Award for her digital illustration “Til our Fingers Decompose.”

Other students to earn honorable mention awards were: Liam Helfrich “Millie” (stoneware clay sculpture), Basil Jaquet-Peregrina “Strawberry Basket” and “Untitled” (stoneware clay sculptures), Chloe Holliday “Goodbye” (painting), Pluto Mosier “Like Clockwork” (photography), Sophia Buchanan “Indulgence” (painting), Tessa Di Lorenzo “Unearthed” (stoneware clay), Maggie Chen “Red Panda” (stoneware clay), Jaron Milman “The (Not-So) Virgin Mary” (painting), Vivian Wen “Still Unsatisfied” (painting), Rebecca White “Flight” (wire), Aislinn McCoy “Meet Me in the Woods” (digital illustration), Liam Campos “Opposites” (stoneware clay), and Natalie Zulker “Page Turner” (photography).
