The Barrington High School sailing team finished seventh at the National Invitational Tournament (NIT) for the Founder’s Trophy, which was held in Chicago last weekend.
Barrington qualified for the NIT by finishing fifth at Team Race New England’s President’s Trophy earlier this month. They were the top public school in New England and it was the first time that Barrington has ever qualified for a national team racing event.
St. George’s School won the President’s Trophy, followed by The Hotchkiss School in second place, Tabor Academy in third, Brunswick School in fourth, and Barrington in fifth. East Greenwich was sixth, Lincoln Academy was seventh and Fairfield Ludlowe High School was eighth.
Barrington has also qualified for the Phebe King regatta by finishing sixth in fleet race New England at the O’Day Trophy. Again, Barrington was the top public school. Barrington will compete in the Phebe King regatta in Annapolis in two weeks.
