The Barrington High School girls lacrosse team earned two more victories last week. The Eagles defeated Scituate (Mass.) 13-11 and then beat North Kingstown 18-6.

Against Scituate, Sophia Scandura and Ashley DaCosta scored four goals each, while Lily O’Neill tallied six assists. Kendall Blaney finished the game with two goals and two assists.

“Scituate is a very good team, and we knew it was going to be a battle, but we played a complete game from start to finish,” wrote Barrington Coach Kerri Thornton. “Emme Robinson came up with a couple of big saves at the end of the game to help hold them off. We also switched some things around on the draw, and our draw unit worked together to come up with some key draw controls. We were able to take advantage of player-up opportunities throughout the 3rd and 4th quarters, which was very beneficial for us.”

Against North Kingstown, the Eagles broke open a close game with a strong second half. Clare Capozza had her best offensive game of the season with five goals. Surry-Jane Manville, Zoe Weiser, and Holly Moscrop and her sister Daisy played stellar defense, allowing a high-scoring Skippers offense to just six goals, including only one goal in the second half. The six goals was the fewest scored in a game by North Kingstown this season.

“We were able to turn things around in the second half to pull away,” wrote Thornton. “The draw group continues to battle and work together to gain possession at critical times.”
