The Barrington High School boys lacrosse team opened the season with wins over Hendricken, North Kingstown and Fitch High School (Groton, Conn.).
On Thursday, April 3, the Eagles defeated Hendricken 21-11. Both teams traded goals for the first five minutes, before Barrington built a 3-2 advantage and never looked back. The Eagles led 6-2 at the end of the first quarter, and 9-3 at halftime.
Hendricken made a run in the third quarter and narrowed the gap to three goals, at 11-8 Barrington with five minutes remaining. The Eagles called a time-out, regrouped and then stretched their advantage to 14-9 by the end of the third quarter.
Ben Parylak had a strong game and finished with a team-high seven goals. Peyton Hillier scored five goals, while Nick Spaight and Dylan Edwards each scored three goals. Patrick McNamara scored a goal also. McNamara and Onson Tieu won nearly 70 percent of the face-offs against the Hawks.
On Thursday, April 10, Barrington defeated North Kingstown 11-6. Spaight led the Eagles with four goals and one assist, while Hillier finished with three goals and an assist. Luca Rigamonti played a key role in the victory, making 20 saves in net for Barrington. The face-off duo of McNamara and Tieu continued to dominate, winning 79 percent for the game. Barrington’s defense played well, causing 16 turnovers. Ryan Owens led the Eagles’ defense with four.
On Saturday, April 12, Barrington traveled to Groton, Conn. and defeated Fitch High School 18-3. Ten players scored goals for Barrington, led by Parylak (three goals, four assists) and Edwards (three goals and one assist). Hillier finished with a goal and five assists, while Rigamonti made 15 saves in net. Dylan Ignall led the Eagles’ defense with three caused turnovers.
The Eagles were scheduled to face a tough test on Tuesday, April 15, when they face off against Moses Brown.
