Runners qualify for New Balance Indoor Nationals

Posted

The Barrington High School girls 4x400-meter relay team finished second at the New England High School Indoor Track Championships in Boston on Saturday, and have qualified for the New Balance Indoor Nationals.

Barrington runners Tess Gagliano, Julia Howarth, Jordynn Palethorpe and Violet Gagliano clocked a 4:00.01 in the 4x400 relay event, shattering the former Barrington High School record by more than six seconds.

The same group of runners also finished 11th in the 4x200-meter relay at New Englands, and was the top team from Rhode Island.

In addition, Barrington High School's Caroline Livingston finished sixth in the mile race with a season's best time of 5:05.46.

Personal records were set by Barrington's Meg Zitzmann and Stephanie Chun in the 1,000 as they finished number one and number two for Rhode Island runners, respectively.

Jordynn Palethorpe set a personal best in the 300-meter race with a time of 42.9, and the 4x800 team finished 17th of 26 teams with excellent personal performances by Olivia Johnson, Reilly Curran, Audrey Falkner and Margaret Nozaki.

The New Balance Indoor Nationals will be held on March 13-15.
