Barrington doctors shine at Dancing with the Doctors gala

Event raises more than $140,000 in support of Open Door Health

Two Barrington residents played key roles in this year’s Dancing with the Doctors gala, which was presented by Dancing for a Cause in partnership with Studio One RI.

Barrington resident Dr. Amy Nunn competed in the event and serves as the chief executive officer of the Rhode Island Public Health Institute — this year's Dancing with the Doctors nonprofit beneficiary. The event raised more than $140,000 in support of Open Door Health.

“We are deeply grateful to have been selected as this year’s beneficiary of Dancing with the Doctors,” said Dr. Nunn. “It was an incredible honor to see our mission celebrated on such a joyful and vibrant stage. Events like this not only raise essential support for our work but also shine a light on the importance of accessible, affirming healthcare for all Rhode Islanders. We are so appreciative of the partnership, creativity, and generosity that made this evening such a success.”

Open Door Health, owned and operated by Rhode Island Public Health Institute, is Rhode Island’s first community clinic specifically designed to better serve the LGBTQ+ community. Located on the south side of Providence, the clinic offers a wide range of services, including primary care, sexual health services, HIV prevention and treatment, integrated behavioral health, and more. With a focus on access and patient-centered care, Open Door Health is committed to reducing barriers to care and improving health outcomes for communities that have historically been underserved.

Held last month at Bally’s Twin River in Lincoln, the 2026 Dancing with the Doctors gala paired 15 local doctors with professional dancers to choreograph, learn, and perform routines in front of an audience of more than 500 supporters.

Barrington resident Dr. Amy Goldfarb took home a "People's Choice Award" for her routine to Chappel Roan's hit song "Pink Pony Club."
