Barrington celebrates Memorial Day with ceremonies and parade
The Memorial Day Parade in Barrington will step off on Monday morning, May 26.
The town's Memorial Day activities will begin with a wreath-laying ceremony at Victory Gate at Barrington High School at 9 a.m. The ceremony will include the raising of the flag, invocation, roll call of deceased veterans, and musical tributes including TAPS and “Amazing Grace.”
The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. — it travels from Barrington High School along Upland Way, Barrington Avenue, and Maple Avenue. It finishes in front of Barrington Town Hall. The parade will include divisions for Memorial Day recognition, military and veteran honorees, civic service, and community support.
The Memorial Day events culminate with a formal ceremony on the Barrington Town Hall lawn at 11 a.m., featuring readings by Barrington Middle School students, remarks from Barrington Town Council President Braxton Cloutier and Grand Marshal Richard King, and a keynote address by James R. Holmes, Ph.D.
Memorial Day offers the community an opportunity to honor and remember the country’s fallen service members.
