Eagles defeat LaSalle and Classical in final dual meet

The Barrington High School boys indoor track team won the division championship on Thursday night, Jan. 19. 

The Eagles knocked off LaSalle 79-30 and Classical 96-13 and finished the regular season dual meets undefeated. Barrington Coach Bill Barrass said the team had a very strong showing in its final dual meet. 

That point was clear as the Eagles swept the top three spots in a number of events — 3,000-meter race, 55-meter hurdles, and 55-meter dash. The Barrington relay teams also won their events.

In the 3,000, Myles Napolitano finished in first, followed by Brandon Piedade and Finn Myatt. Ethan Knight won the 55-meter hurdles, while Eli Terrell finished second and Bobby Wind was third. 

In the 55-meter dash, Nate Greenberg finished first, Iain DeBoth was second, and Gabe Tanous was third. 

Barrington’s 4x400-meter relay team of Henry Stockwell, Ethan Knight, Hayden Knight and DeBoth won its event with a time of 3:49.48, while Greenberg, Tanous, Ethan Knight, and DeBoth teamed up for a win in the 4x200-meter relay. 

Other strong performances included:

• 1,500-meter race: 1. Brandon Piedade, 3. Charlie Stockwell

• 300-meter race: 1. DeBoth, 2. Ethan Knight

• 1,000-meter race: 2. Michael Chun, 3. Elliot Lefort

• 600-meter race: 2. Fritz Meuhlbauer

• Weight throw: 1. Samuel Spector, 3. Joe Adams

• Shot put: 3. Adams

• High jump: 1. Terrell, 2. Tanous

• Long jump: 2. Terrell, 3. Jeremy Kuo
