Brendan Fay, Will Cauley and Walter Joachim-Delpoio each won individual events and paced the Barrington High School boys track team to a third place finish at the Eastern Division Championships on Wednesday, May 8, in Portsmouth.
Fay cruised to a win in the 1,500-meter race and also finished fifth in the 800. Cauley scored points in three events — he won the hammer throw, finished third in the discus and was sixth in the shot put. Joachim-Delpoio won the 110-meter hurdles.
As a team, Barrington scored 88 points and finished behind first place Rogers, which scored 164 points, and third place LaSalle, which finished the meet with 130 points.
Holden Vaughan ran to a fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meter race for the Eagles, and in the 110 hurdles, Jack Cheng finished in fifth, while his teammate Joachim-Delpoio captured the top spot. Cheng also ran to a sixth-place finish in the 300 hurdles.
Barrington's 4x100-meter relay team and the Eagles' 4x400-meter relay team both finished third in their events. In the 4x800-meter relay, Barrington finished fourth.
The Eagles landed three finishers in the top-six in the pole vault — Jackson Bennett was second, while Will Sanchez was fourth and Thomas McAdams was fifth.
Ben Geoghegan finished fourth in the long jump and Sanchez was third in the triple jump.
Cauley performed well in the throwing events, and Matteo Lopergolo finished fifth in the hammer.
