The Barrington Little League Majors All-Star team knocked off Darlington 5-3 in the loser's bracket final on Wednesday, July 15, and earned a re-match against Portsmouth. Barrington will travel to Portsmouth on Saturday, for a 5:45 p.m. game.

In the win over Darlington, Barrington was once against powered by strong pitching — Josh Leadem started the game and went four innings, striking out four Darlington batters. Brendan Conaty threw two impressive innings and finished with two strikeouts.

Barrington's offense was led by Leadem who was 2-for-2 at the plate with a home run and three RBI. Bennett Durkin was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, while Nick Ptasek drilled a double to the fence.

Sam Faulkner dropped a perfect bunt for Barrington and stole a base, while Michael Zeleznik and Nolan Fletcher each went 1-for-2 and Owen Crain was 1-for-1. Crain's hit came at a crucial time, as he cracked a 2-strike single that led to what would be Barrington's winning run.

Late in the game Barrington's catcher Zeleznik teamed up with pitcher Conaty to throw out a runner trying to steal home on a wild pitch with the tying run at first base.

On Saturday, Barrington will try to avenge its only loss this season as they travel to Portsmouth for a 5:45 p.m. Barrington suffered a tough 3-2 loss against Portsmouth on July 13; the local boys held a 2-1 lead heading into the last inning.

If Barrington can knock off Portsmouth on Saturday, they will force a District II final game on Sunday.
