Barrington All-Stars open states with 10-0 win

The Barrington 12U Majors All-Stars opened the state tournament with a 10-0 victory over Chariho on Saturday night, July 20.

Owen Pfeffer pitched a one-hitter for Barrington, while Matt Fede paced the offense with four RBIs on two hits. The game remained scoreless into the bottom of the third when Barrington's Lucas Tanous drove in two runs with a bases loaded triple. Mason Crain drove in two more runs with a double in the same inning and Barrington led 5-0 at the end of the inning. Barrington scored another five runs in the fourth inning, capped by one of Fede's hits.

Barrington will play against Cranston Western in a winner's bracket game on Sunday night, July 21, at 7:30 p.m. The state tournament is being held in East Greenwich. 

11U team loses 

The Barrington 11U All-Star team lost its opener in the state tournament, 3-2, against a team from North Kingstown/Wickford. Barrington had the would-be tying run reach second base in the sixth inning but was unable to drive him in. 

Barrington will play in an elimination bracket game on Sunday at 11 a.m. The 11U state tournament is being played at Deerfield Park in Smithfield.
