Question: What steps, if any, could Barrington High School take to better prepare students for college and/or career?
Rudy Seber (D) — “As a grateful BHS alumnus, I would work with our educators, administrators, and parents to solve the challenges that our students will face in this increasingly competitive marketplace. Starting with a passion of mine, fostering a Growth Mindset; the belief that their abilities can be developed through dedication & hard work.”
Margaret Reid (D) — “We do very well supporting our college bound students, and we must continue to do so. We now must extend our excellence to all students. I hope to see: more CTE pathways and trade internships; expanded supports for more inclusive classes; a strong post-graduate Transition program for Special Education students.”
TJ Peck (I) — “A major blind spot when I went through Barrington High School and remains to this day is career preparation for non-college bound students. Preparation of students for new economy jobs, entrepreneurism, construction trades and other fields is critical. Equity means every student gets the preparation that is right for them.”
Frazier Bell (I) — “Strong academics are important and we can’t lose focus on that, but we can work to better prepare students for the social, emotional and organizational issues that can be a challenge when they are first on their own, whether this is in college, a career or transitioning to independent living.”
