Posted

Mr. Anthony Chianese, age 89, of Notre Dame Street, Coventry, and formerly of Bristol, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. He was the husband of the late Joan M. (McDermott) Chianese, who preceded him in death in August of 1988, and the husband of the late Mary Ann (Farrell) Chianese, who preceded him in death in 2005. Born and raised in Barrington, he was son of the late Angelo and Mary L. (DeChristofaro) Chianese.

Anthony was a Bristol resident for many years. He was a lace weaver for over 45 years at the former Rhode Island Lace Works in Barrington, retiring in 1993. Following his retirement, he worked for Karew Manufacturing and Stop and Shop for a number of years.

Anthony enjoyed long distance cycling. He took part in the Cycle America tour group in 1993, cycling coast to coast from Seattle, Wash., to Maine. He was a former coach for the King Phillip Little League in Bristol, coaching for a number of years.

He is survived by four sons, Scott A. Chianese (Kathy) of Swansea, Mass., Michael J. Chianese (Maria) of Kingston, Shaun P. Chianese (Mamie) of Warren and Danny T. Chianese (Marie) of Coventry, and five grandchildren, Angela, Meagan, Stephanie, Melissa and Shawna; and a great-grandchild, Mara Jae. In addition to his wives and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jennie Defusco and Carmella Trotter, and two brothers, Frank Chianesi and Louis Chianese.

A celebration of Anthony’s life will be held at a later date and time.

Kindly omit flowers.

He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
