Anne Dodge Lohr, aged 79, passed away peacefully on 7 July 2018 in Virginia after a valiant struggle with an illness associated with knee-replacement surgery. A long-time resident of Warren, RI, Anne grew up as the daughter of a Methodist minister who led congregations throughout New York State. She graduated from The State University of New York in New Paltz in 1960 and became a devoted member of the Episcopal Church. With her first husband, The Rev. Dr. Thomas F. Pike, she worked for peace and civil rights and marched with Dr. Martin Luther King in Washington, DC. She sang protest songs, church music and played guitar. After working at The Spence School in New York City, she earned a Master’s degree in social work from Hunter College and attended The Ackerman Institute for The Family, pursuing a career as a family therapist. Later in life she attended the Barbara Brennan School of Healing to become a healer. Her second husband, Franklyn H. Lohr, II, served in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific theater during World War II. Together they shared a passion for life and sailed for many years in the Caribbean and in New England until Franklyn’s death in 2009. They were members of The New York Yacht Club, The Virgin Islands Yacht Club and The Bristol Yacht Club.

Anne found her greatest joy in music, her church, and spending time with her family on Martha’s Vineyard. As a member of Michael’s Church in Bristol, Anne loved singing in the choir and the camaraderie of the “St. Michael’s Girls.” She is a descendent of Richard Warren of the Mayflower and Tristram Dodge, original settler of Block Island, RI.

She is survived by her daughter, Jean Pike of New Mexico; her son, Thomas Pike Jr. and daughter-in-law, Sonja Pike, of New York City; step-children Franklyn Lohr III, Grace Lohr, Randall Lohr and Jamie Lohr of Connecticut; and she will be lovingly remembered by her many grandchildren: Thomas Pike III; Sophie and Anna Pike; Dana Hambridge; Kerrie Lohr; Franklyn Lohr IV; and Philip Lohr.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at St. Michael’s Church in Bristol, RI.
