Amanda Marie Robidoux, our kind-hearted, caring, loving, compassionate daughter, passed away on Monday, Jan. 25, 2021. Amanda fought many obstacles after a near-drowning incident in 2009 and, despite all of her struggles, worked to make sure that she put everyone else’s needs before her own. We are eternally grateful for the special nurses and respiratory therapists at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, as well as, the Spaulding Rehabilitation respiratory therapists, who worked diligently to ensure Amanda remained with us.

Her genuine passion for reading, nature, world change and helping others is what helped her to positively affect so many lives. To know Amanda, was to love her as she did not have a mean bone in her body. She will always be remembered for her kindness, quick wit and intelligence. In life she was the strongest person we knew and her determination made her our hero.

After her accident left her blind, wheelchair bound and with significant health issues, she still fought to complete her schooling at Sargent Rehabilitation Center and achieved her high school diploma. With support from her vision teacher, she took college level classes and had poems published in the national online magazine, Kaleidoscope. She presented twice at technology conferences where she demonstrated her ability to access her iPad through a switch interface. She created ‘Panda Paws’ shortly after her accident as a way to elicit community donations for, among other things, food pantries, veterans, inner city schools, animal shelters and coats for those in need.

We are so proud of her many accomplishments and she will be missed dearly. Rest with God now Panda, we will continue to show the world your generosity and kindness through our actions and your ‘Panda Paws’ fundraisers.

Amanda leaves her parents; Deb (McGovern) and John Robidoux, her siblings; David Robidoux, Bethany (Robidoux) Martin and her husband Cliff, Kathryn Robidoux, and her fiance Tyler Wilcox, her younger brother Dominic Robidoux, her grandparents; Kenneth and Dorothy McGovern, Henry Robidoux and the late Anne Robidoux. She also leaves many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and a large extended family. Amanda requested that no black clothing be worn at her funeral. Her funeral Mass will be held at St. Luke’s Parish in Barrington at 10 a.m., Feb. 1.
