All Charity Day at Newport Polo

Posted

Join West Place Animal Sanctuary for polo with a purpose!

The Newport International Polo Series is hosting its 5th annual All Charity Day to benefit local 501(c)(3) organizations. West Place Animal Sanctuary invites friends and supporters to enjoy a fun afternoon of championship polo while supporting Rhode Island’s first farm animal sanctuary for rescues from abuse, neglect, and cruelty cases.

The 2021 benefit match, featuring the conclusion of the East Coast Handicap (8-12 Goal) Women’s Polo Championship, is a fundraising opportunity for West Place Animal Sanctuary and other nonprofit organizations. All proceeds from ticket sales through westplace.org benefit West Place Animal Sanctuary.

This fundraising event will help us rescue Gabby & Gracie from being sent to auction and an unknown fate thereafter. These two miniature horses are 12 years old and have lived together their entire lives. In order to bring them to West Place, we most cover the "auction intercept" fees, medical expenses, and transportation costs. 100% of your ticket purchase and/or donation can help us bring them to our sanctuary where they will live in peace and tranquility.

Purchase your tickets at Tickets available at www.westplace.org/newport-international-polo or contact Patrick Cole, Director of Development & Communications, at patrick.cole@westplace.org with any questions.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
