Adults Can Learn to Sew at Barrington Public Library

An introductory machine sewing class for adults at Barrington Public Library on Tuesday, February 27 at 6:30 pm. Participants will learn how to use a sewing machine, understand seam allowance, fabric types, and the basic tools needed to get started. Complete a keychain that you sew yourself by the end of class. Information learned in this class can be easily applied to any make/model of machine you have at home. All materials and machines will be provided. This class is taught by Karen Katin of Stitchery, a needle arts studio in Portsmouth.

Free and open to adults of all ages. Registration is required by visiting barringtonlibrary.org/events/adult or by calling 401.247.1920 x2.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
