Bristol

Political platform statement

Why I am running for this office: I am running for re-election to our Bristol Town Council so that I can continue to focus on improving our quality of life to make our community better. Building on the work done by past town councils, our town administrator, and together with our community, some accomplishments from ’18-’20 stand out, including passage of a robust Disabled Veterans Tax Exemption, investments in our Bristol Warren Regional School District, acquisition of Open Space and passage of a Backyard Composting Partnership with Clean Ocean Access, accommodations for Downtown Restaurants amid Covid-19. These exceptionally challenging times call for the steady leadership that is necessary to build on these successes and that is why our work is not yet done. If I am re-elected to our town council I want to: a) institute a property tax incentive for homeowners choosing to install small green infrastructure or nature-based projects to improve our environment and water quality, b) work with other Rhode Island communities to stop energy costs from climbing out of control, c) listen to our local businesses to learn how we can support their success in these difficult times, and d) work with our school district to facilitate and accelerate economic growth by developing 21st Century tech programs. While serving, I will keep approaching my duty as a town councilman with professionalism, honesty, and conviction. I will seize opportunities to find common ground when it is in the best interest of our town, but I will also stand my ground on the critical issues that I believe are important to our community. That is why I'm asking for your vote!
