In addition to the usual array of incidents, police were called multiple times to investigate drones flying around Thames Street and a man caught kneeling outside a woman's window, and they tried to help rescue a 61-year-old man who died while swimming from a boat off the Bristol shore. Following are excerpts from the police log from Aug. 31 to Sept. 6.

Monday, Aug. 31

A patrolman responded to Deer Run Road and issued a no-trespass order to a woman at 3:31 p.m.

A High Street resident called police about a sick or injured cat in an adjacent yard. An animal control officer took the cat to a veterinary clinic.

A caller reported two people walking across the Mt. Hope Bridge at 8:57 p.m. A Bristol patrolman transported one person to the Bristol side of the bridge.

Tuesday, Sept. 1

A Hopeworth Avenue resident reported juveniles on mopeds at 4:18 p.m. They were gone when an officer arrived.

An 18-year-old was cited for unlawful drinking and misrepresentation of their age at 6:57 p.m., after purchasing alcohol at 1776 Liquors.

Wednesday, Sept. 2

Dambra Jada Downes, 20, of Middletown, was arrested on a District Court warrant at 8:50 a.m.

A resident on Charlotte Drive filed an animal complaint at 2:35 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 3

Someone reported their dog attacked by two pitbulls on Walley Street at 8:43 p.m. The animal control officer is still investigating.

A man near Independence Park reported two or three drones being flown in the area, possibly looking in windows, at 10:26 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 4

Following a verbal argument between two men on High Street at 10:57 a.m., officers arrested Johnny A. Ricci, 29, of Providence. He was charged on a warrant for violation of a no-contact order.

A Noyes Avenue resident reported fraud at 11:26 a.m.

Someone complained about a barking dog on Second Street at 11:58 a.m.

A Franklin Street resident reported the tires on their car slashed at 3:44 p.m.

A Second Street resident reported a sign stolen from their front yard at 6:38 p.m.

A woman called police after seeing a man jump out of a white pickup truck to start banging on doors at 7:05 p.m. on Sowams Drive. An officer responded to check on the situation.

A Lincoln Avenue resident called police to report that a white van kept circling the street and slowing down near her house at 9:28 p.m. They made two more calls about the white van, at 10:20 and 10:47 p.m.

Someone called police about a group of juveniles walking around in the area of Sachem Road and making noise at 9:48 p.m.

Police responded to the area of Prospect and Richmond streets at 11:01 p.m. to investigated a reported disturbance. They found no disturbance, just people being loud in the street.

Saturday, Sept. 5

A detail officer reported drones being flown in the area of Independence Park at 12:20 a.m. An officer responded and spoke to two 18-year-olds, who cooperated and agreed to stop.

A Fernwood Drive resident called police and reported seeing a man outside her window at 1:17 a.m. The homeowner said she heard a noise outside the window and observed a white male, medium build, wearing a white shirt, kneeling in the grass below the window, reportedly looking into the window. The man ran from the house and upon arrival officers conducted an extensive search of the surrounding area. They did not locate him. They also checked nearby security cameras but did not capture any video of him.

A resident along Fox Hill Avenue reported a group of people being loud and intoxicated at 1:49 a.m. Officers responded but did not find any evidence of the reported behavior.

Someone reported youth setting off firecrackers in the area of the Mt. Hope Boat Ramp at 3:04 a.m.

Spencer J. Fetrow, 18, of Holliston, Mass., was arrested at Roger Williams University at 3:55 a.m. and taken to the station. He was charged with possession of narcotics and possession of marijuana, arraigned at the station and released.

An officer responded to Lisa Lane to assist with a disobedient juvenile at 8:57 a.m.

Someone complained about a man in a red car taking photos of their home on River Street at 2 p.m. It turned out to be a real estate agent doing a comparative analysis.

Officers responded to Thames Street after being notified of a man who was walking around with a large snake at 4:58 p.m. and making people uncomfortable.

A resident on Highview Avenue reported his back door window broken at 5:33 p.m.

Someone reported a possible large gathering in the area of River Street and Bray Lane at 6:12 p.m.

Someone reported a loud party and fireworks on Terrace Drive at 8:05 p.m.

Someone reported a large party on Lindberg Avenue at 8:42 p.m.

Fireworks were reported on First Street at 9 p.m.

Someone reported loud fireworks in the area of State and Rock streets at 9:44 p.m.

Someone reported a large group of people gathering along High Street and possible Covid violations at 10:32 p.m. An officer responded and found no large gatherings.

Sunday, Sept. 6

A caller reported a loud party on Bay View Avenue at midnight. When an officer responded, they agreed to move things inside for the night.

A State Street resident reported people running up and down the street and being loud at 12:15 a.m.

A Hope Street resident reported a man knocking on their door, ringing their doorbell and sitting on the front porch at 2:36 a.m.

A caller reported the owner of a white Mercury spinning its tires along Lower Ferry Road at 1:56 p.m. The car was then parked at a neighboring house with a flat tire.

A Michael Drive resident reported noise from a neighboring residence at 4:44 p.m. A patrolman responded and found two family members speaking loudly inside their home. They were advised to quiet down.

At 5:31 p.m. police received a call about an unresponsive man aboard a boat off the southern shoreline of Bristol. Through investigation, officers learned a 61-year-old man from Fall River was out on a boat with friends. In the area of Blithewold, the boat lost power and Sea-Tow was contacted by the boat operator. While awaiting the arrival of Sea-Tow, individuals who were on the boat began swimming. While in the water, the 61-year-old suddenly became unresponsive. Bristol Marine 1 was launched with EMS and paramedics aboard. When they arrived, the man was already aboard the Sea-Two vessel. Bristol EMS personnel boarded the Sea-Tow and immediately began lifesaving measures. The man was taken to the Church Street Dock, where additional medical personnel and Bristol Rescue were waiting. The victim was transported by Bristol Rescue to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. There are no suspicious circumstances regarding the incident, and the state Medical Examiner’s Office is working to determine the cause of death. 

A resident reported someone riding a motorcycle near the basketball court at Veterans’ Park along Wood Street at 9:10 p.m.

A caller reported a loud group playing paintball on Goulart Avenue at 11:01 p.m. A patrolman reported no noise upon arrival and no evidence of Covid violations.

An officer spoke to two people found flying drones in the area of Hope and Washington streets at 11:30 p.m.
