A delicious week in the East Bay

Posted

As anyone who has lived in the area for more than a few years can tell you, it wasn't all that long ago that if you wanted to go out for something new and different to eat, something creative or cutting edge, you had to head to Providence or Newport. The East Bay has always had great restaurants, but we didn't have a lot of variety.

Those days are over. Drive to Providence for dinner? Why bother? The East Bay has a great and growing food scene, not to mention a stellar setting.

To showcase that bounty, East Bay Newspapers is pleased to present the

first-ever East Bay Restaurant Week, encouraging everyone from all across Rhode Island and southern Massachusetts to come and experience the fantastic restaurants in our area.

The week of Oct 23 through Nov. 1 will feature three-course prix fixe menus, $15 for lunch and $30 for dinner. Participating restaurants listed below are designated (D) for dinner only, or (B) for both.

Meet our staff
Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
