A teenage mother was arrested in Bristol on Tuesday and charged with child endangerment and obstructing an officer following the sudden death of her 2-month-old child that occurred on April 12.

The Bristol Police Department announced on Tuesday, April 16 that a 19-year-old mother was arrested following the death of a two-month-old infant. The department sent out the following press release:
“On Friday, April 12, 2024 at approximately 0437 hours, Bristol Police responded to 26 Bayview Avenue, 3rd floor, along with Bristol Rescue for a report of an unresponsive two-month-old infant. Upon arrival, police observed the infant lying on the bedroom floor not breathing. Life-saving measures were immediately performed, however the infant was pronounced deceased on the scene by medical personnel.
An investigation conducted by the Bristol Police Department Detective Division into the cause of the infant’s death ensued and, because of that investigation, the biological mother, 19-year-old Trista Thivierge, of 26 Bayview Avenue, Apt. #3, Bristol, was arrested and charged with one count of Child Endangerment, and one count of Obstructing a Police Officer.
Thivierge was arraigned by a Bail Commissioner at Bristol Police Department Headquarters and released on $10,000 surety bail. Thivierge is scheduled to appear in the 6th District Court on Wednesday, April 17, 2024."
