At 5 a.m., Friday, August 18, 2017, an on duty police officer discovered flames coming from a business located at 2423 Main Road in Tiverton. The fire was quickly extinguished, said Tiverton Fire Chief Robert Lloyd.
There were no injuries, and the business is still in operation. The nature of the fire is suspicious, he said.

The Tiverton Fire Department, Tiverton Fire Marshal, Tiverton Police and the Rhode Island State Fire Marshal’s Office are seeking any information that may be pertinent to an ongoing investigation into the causes and origin of the fire, and have jointly released this alert requesting information or assistance.
The fire is currently under active investigation and a reward has been posted by the Rhode Island Arson Hotline for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons involved with this fire. An Arson-Watch Fund has been established to pay up to $5,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the successful prevention of or detection of arson crime.
