Nathaniel Gonsalves, 82, Riverside

Nathaniel “Nat” Gonsalves, 82, of Orlando, Florida, formerly of Circuit Drive, Riverside, passed away on May 8, 2019 in Orlando.

Born in Onset, Mass., to Nathaniel and Margaret Gonsalves, he leaves his wife of 64 years, Verna (Neves) Gonsalves; his children, Alice Morgan and Dave, Keith Gonsalves, Deborah and Kathie Ventura; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Costa and Terrence, and a brother, Jeffrey Gonsalves and Robin. He was the brother of the late Daniel and Thomas Gonsalves. Nat was a long haul trucker for many years and a proud member of Local No. 251.

A Celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, June 26, in the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Ave., Riverside from 5-8 p.m. Burial will be private. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Nat’s memory to the American Heart Association, 1 State Street, Suite No. 200, Providence, R.I., 02908 would be deeply appreciated.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
