George H. Landry Jr., 91, Riverside

George H. Landry Jr. 91 of East Providence, died Monday June 10, 2019 at home. He was the husband of Gail (Emerson) Landry, for over 52 years.
George was born in Gloucester, Mass., a son of the late George H. and Mary (Ribeiro) Landry Sr., Mr. Landry was a Motor Coach Operator for the Bonanza Bus Lines, for over 32 years, before retiring. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Landry lived in Riverside since 1972. He was an avid model train and boat collector, had a fantastic sense of humor, he enjoyed working in his yard. He also liked to do carpentry work.
Besides his wife he is survived by his son Sterling Landry his daughters Joan E. DaCosta of Fall River and Holly A. Rougier and her husband Albert of Riverside. Mr. Landry was the grandfather of 11 and the great grandfather of 9. He was the father of the late George H. “Buddy” Landry III, Crystal Kitchen, and Susan Deiss.
His funeral service will be held Saturday, June 15, at 2:30 p.m. in the Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
