REHOBOTH — The East Providence High School girls’ soccer team followed up an eight-goal effort in a win over Johnston to close the previous week by starting the next with a 7-0 shutout of host Lincoln School Monday afternoon, Sept. 16, in a Division II contest at the Lynx’s Faxon Farm athletic facility in Rehoboth.
Ashley Cassino-Henriquez scored a hat-trick for the Townies, who improved to 4-0-0 with 12 points in the league standings. East Providence needs seven more points from its remaining 12 games to earn a berth in the D-II championship playoffs. The Townies, Moses Brown and Pilgrim entered the week unbeaten and at the top of the league ladder.
Alyssa DeOliveira, who potted three goals in the 8-1 rout of the Panthers last week, added two more against Lincoln as well as an assist. Kayla Hannon and Hailee Manteiga had the two other EPHS tallies. Olivia Williams assisted on three of the goals. Aaliyah Pattie and Tessa Laroche had one each. Keeper Mia Jackson needed to make just three saves to keep the cleansheet.
The Townies return home for their next three league games, beginning Wednesday, Sept. 18, against Middletown. EPHS welcomes fellow unbeaten Moses Brown (4-0-0) to Pierce Stadium on Friday, Sept. 20. Both matches kick at 3:30 p.m. Defending league champ Mount St. Charles travels to the city Monday night, Sept. 23. Start time is 6 p.m.
