Unfortunately, the School Committee after recommendations from the Administration, decided to supplant the boys' varsity tennis team with boys' volleyball because there was "interest" in volleyball.

There was a committee meeting for hearing opponents of the closure of the program but in the end it was easier to cancel the program and blame the federal Title 9 rules then do a little extra work to make the program work. Obviously, the decisions were made before the meetings were held. I, for one, was left to ponder... How hard would the "leaders" of our school department worked if it was the girls' tennis program on the chopping block.

It's too bad that many people in positions of authority, not unlike our local, state and federal politicians, are there for themselves more than they are there to serve their constituents!
