Portsmouth honors four retiring town employees
PORTSMOUTH — They’ll be gone soon, but not forgotten
The Town Council Monday night honored four town employees who are retiring soon:
• Deputy Fire Chief Michael O’Brien, a 20-plus-year member of the Fire Department who’s leaving to become Rhode Island’s deputy fire marshall
• Debbi Pappas, who’s been the police records clerk for nearly 20 years (Six police officers, including Chief Thomas Lee, lined up to salute her in the council chambers.)
• Jeanne Warren, a 28-year employee and the town’s benefits coordinator (“Jeanne is one of the people behind the scenes, unless there’s something wrong with your benefits,” Council President Keith Hamilton said.)
• Capt. James Sousa, a 20-year employee of the Fire Department
Capt. Sousa’s retirement is effective June 30, while the others’ are effective June 1.
Besides receiving proclamations and town tiles from Mr. Hamilton, Rep. Dennis Canario also presented them with state proclamations from the House of Representatives.
