PORTSMOUTH — The 32nd annual International Coastal Cleanup may have taken place in most communities on Saturday, Sept. 16, but volunteers will be scouring the shoreline for trash in Portsmouth on two upcoming Saturdays: Sept. 23 and 30.

Portsmouth’s cleanups include:

• Pheasant Hill Beach on Sept. 23 from noon to 2 p.m.

• Common Fence Point on Sept. 30 from 9-11 a.m. Volunteers iwll meet at the Common Fence Point Community Hall, 933 Anthony Road.

Save The Bay has been organizing Rhode Island’s International Coastal Cleanup, a global event bringing 800,000-plus volunteers together to clean litter from shorelines around the world.

He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
